A free, independent launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition on Windows. It works only with paid (premium) accounts.

Availability — why you can't download it yet
Blockbyte Launcher is not available for download yet.
Minecraft's sign-in services only accept launchers whose app registration (AppID) has been reviewed and approved by Mojang. We have built the launcher and tested the whole sign-in flow, and we are requesting that approval from Mojang. Until it is granted, Mojang's servers refuse the final sign-in step, so we are not distributing the launcher to players.
Mojang reviews requests weekly, so this can take some days. When the approval arrives, this page will be updated with the installer, installation instructions and file checksums.
What is planned
- A free Windows installer, published on this page together with installation instructions and checksums.
- Automatic launcher updates.
- Modpack import and support for more mod loaders.
- An optional list of Minecraft servers shown in the launcher.
These are plans, not promises of specific features or dates.
What it does
- Installs and starts Minecraft: Java Edition versions for players who own the game. Game files, libraries, assets and Java are downloaded directly from Mojang's official servers and verified by hash. We do not host, copy or redistribute any game files.
- Manages separate profiles ("instances") with their own worlds and mods.
- Installs the Fabric and Quilt mod loaders and downloads mods, resource packs and shaders from Modrinth. Mods belong to their authors; we only help download them.
- Checks for launcher updates when it starts (once update hosting is set up).
Sign-in and your account
You sign in with your Microsoft account in your normal web browser, using the standard OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow with PKCE. The launcher never sees or stores your password. It only receives a one-time code on a local address (http://localhost) and exchanges it for tokens.
There is no offline or "cracked" mode in released builds. A player must own Minecraft: Java Edition to play.
Privacy
- Tokens stay on your computer, encrypted with Windows' built-in protection (DPAPI). They are never sent to any server operated by us.
- We do not run accounts, analytics or advertising trackers inside the launcher.
- The launcher connects to Mojang/Microsoft (sign-in, game downloads), to Modrinth (mods) and, once configured, to our update server (to check the version number).
- You can sign out at any time in the launcher; this removes the stored tokens from your computer.
Servers and third-party content
Any Minecraft servers, mods or other content shown or installed through the launcher are provided by independent third parties. Each server operator is solely responsible for their server, its rules, prices and privacy practices. Blockbyte Studio does not operate them and Mojang or Microsoft are not responsible for them either.
Who is responsible, and how to contact us
